A few tips for when you need to Hire a Projector in Central London

Do you need a screen?

It's always worth checking with the venue you will be using to see if they might have a Projector screen installed or available. You would be surprised but many Restaurants, Bars and Conference rooms already have them installed. If you don't need to hire a Screen with your Projector this will obviously cut costs and may mean that we can deliver using a bycicle instead of a van cutting out congestion charge costs and of course being kind to the enviroment. In some cases the Screen at the venue may not be suitable for your needs in terms of size and quality so please check first

If you do need to Hire a Screen with your Projector then we have a vast range to suit your needs. For a typical situation we recommend a tripod based screen for a professional yet straight forward setup. Tripod based projection screens come in sizes up to 8ft wide and have high reflective surfaces. They are also adjustable in height which can come in very useful and can be adjusted for 16:9 widescreen format. How powerful does my Projector need to be?

We update our Projectors regularly and always seek out the brightest, most suitable Projectors for our customers hire needs. Our latest stock of portable projectors available in London are 3000 lumens with 1000:1 contrast ratio's making for a bright high quality Projection in just about every situation including bright rooms. If you are hiring a more powerful Projector for use on a larger screen then of course the lumens ratings go a bit higher. Generally for the larger fastfold screens we use at least 5000 lumen Projectors. If you are having a conference then we can come along to the venue and make recommendations with regards to the best projector hire solution. We usually do this for free in central London

Where will we put the Projector?

For smaller presentation Projectors it's usually ideal to just sit the Projector on a Projector stand or even a table if more convenient. It's important to place the Projector in such a way that nothing is blocking the emmited light and also that the fans are not blocked in any way on the unit. Blocking the fan outlets could cause overheating and lead to the unit faling

In some cases it might be more suitable to ceiling mount the Projector particularly in Bars and Clubs for obvious reasons. Ceiling brackets can be hung in a variety of ways including truss hung, direct screwing into ceiling/beams and swinging cradles. We can sometimes use wireless video technology when connecting the Projector to the Laptop/DVD Player as this can save a lot of time and keep things tidy

What can we connect to your Projectors and how?

Just about anything with a video output can be connected to our Projectors including Mac/PC laptops, DVD Players, PC's, games consoles, hard disc media players and video cameras. It should be noted that different projectors have differrent connectivity capabilities so always check before hiring to ensure all goes smoothly.

If you are bringing a mac laptop please ensure that you bring along any adapters as the newer models do not have any standard outputs and require video output adapters. We do keep some spare just in case but please do not rely on us aving the correct mac adapter for your machine

We want to make your event special and have the experience to advise on the setup that will blow your audience away and leave them wondering how it was possible. We can project onto custom made surfaces and materials and have the projectors hidden. For a more interactive setup we could make the Projector be triggered via IR so when someone approaches the projection is set off(very good for halloween events).

If you are a VJ in need of Projector Hire in London or the UK then we would be more than happy to give advice as to the best setup. Projectors are the ideal choice for VJ's in nightclubs and bars as they give the biggest bang for the buck. As these enviroments tend to be on the darker side you don't always need the brightest projector in the world to get the desired results. For ease of installation we have introduced a new range of wireless Projectors to our Hire stock which certainly cuts down installation time and can save a lot of the hassle that goes along with installing cabling at venues. We have both VGA and composite video wireless solutions available

With regards to mounting projectors on hire there are many options available. When ceiling mounting projectors we would normally use cradles as they fully support the projector and are also fully adjustable. Cradles can be hung from truss frames, metal/wooden beams, attached to bars or for more permanent installations screwed into ceilings. We use metal wire and chains to support projectors when needed though on most truss frames and beams this method is usually not neccessary. Projector stands are also available to hire for more straight forward setups. We stock simple telescopic stands that can be easily adjusted and can also have side shelves attached for laptops and DVD players. This makes for easy wiring to the projector with short cables and no mess. Larger projectors can also be set on stands and for this we use twin poled plasma style stands with short poles

One of the most important variables of projector hire is lighting. The lighting conditions at the venue will always dictate the power of the projector that we would recommend for hire
